Saturday, December 5th, 2009

Recently there was news about Zhu Zhu Pets being toxic and unsafe for kids.  The CEO of Cepia, creators of Zhu Zhu Pets, gave a statement clearing this bad rumor. I mean would Walmart or Target carry toxic toys without some proof of testing.

“Rigorous testing and inspection procedures are in place for all Zhu Zhu Pets products to assure that the toys are completely safe. Working in conjunction with representatives from governing toy industry and trade organizations, we have made certain that all Zhu Zhu Pets products are regularly and frequently tested through an independent testing service, Bureau Veritas Consumer Products Services, the global leader in Quality Assurance.” Read rest of the story here

Real Zhu Zhu Pets Reviews

Check out these real Zhu Zhu Pets Reviews

“Those who keep saying ‘just get a real hamster’: one reason people find these toys more appealing is because kids take their real hamsters out of the cage &, inadvertently, the hamster gets lost in the house, could be accidently stepped on by excited five year olds, etc. Real hamsters may be “better” to you, but real hamsters are also real living animals that can have real suffering in well meaning but too young hands. Real animals don’t need to die so you can teach yr kids “responsibility”.” – YouTube.com Reviewer

“We were lucky enough to be chosen to do a product review of Zhu Zhu Pets. We received several components of the habitat plus one hamster. It took a little time to figure out exactly how the components of the habitat fit together, but once you get the hang of it, it’s easy to add another part to the hamster’s playground. Each hamster has its own personality. The hamsters roam around their habitat (or loose through my house) by themselves. The kids can’t keep their hands off of them, but that’s OK, too, because the hamsters won’t bite back when you pull their tails. Ha ha. I think the car is the best accessory. The hamster really goes into the car and drives it out of the garage. Too cute. It’s nowhere near a real hamster, but it’s a fun toy. Of course, there’s no mess to clean up, either, parents.” – Amazon.com Reviewer

“My daughter got this toy for her 6th birthday. She loves it! Plays with it all of the time. The hamsters are cute and make cute sounds but not too loud. They work great. We do replace the batteries quite often. She now wants accessories and that can be expensive, but overall-a great toy.” – Amazon.com Reviewer

“I had never heard of this toy till recently and lucked out by stumbling upon them at TRU. It’s really a cute toy, but the sounds the hamster makes are a little strange: rooster crowing, cow mooing, etc. Strange noises for a hamster, lol. My daughter really loves it, and it is adorable as it runs around on the floor. As the toy’s warning states on the bottom, do not get this near your hair because it will wind it up on the back wheels. Also, it picks up fuzz and animal hair on the floor so you will periodically need to get some tweezers out to get all the crud out so it can resume normal speeds. Haven’t gotten any of the accessories for this rodent because they can’t be found.

That said, the stores do need to put a limit on how many you can buy then more families will be able to buy for their children rather than eBay sellers out to make a profit. When I got this one, I bought two – one for my daughter’s bday and one to hold for her Christmas present. However, the store had a limit of 4. I think that’s excessive in light of them being in such hot demand and short supply.” – Amazon Reviewer
